Pokemon Go, the latest I.T. game has been condemned by leading Hindus in India because they feel it offends their vegan sensitivities.
In case you don’t know, a vegan is someone who has an extreme vegetarian diet: no animal products are allowed at all. No dairy, no meat or fish, no honey, no eggs.
Strict Hindus are supposed to be vegan. It shows respect for life, and that is an essential part of their faith. They don’t wear leather shoes either, and all cows are considerd sacred animals.
So what’s this got to do with a new children’s game? The game offers rewards – virtual eggs, yes VIRTUAL eggs, ones you can’t eat. It’s only a game, but these offended persons are taking the issue up with Pokemon HQ in Los Angeles.
You couldn’t make it up!
