39: NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY #4 Hidden work

I write from the experience of being unemployed and on benefits in the early 1980s. The local Church of England, whose members and ministers were there when advice and benefit centres closed for the day and weekends, helped to nurture my spirit during those difficult times. They had the time, the listening ear, the encouragement and practical help. This type of “hidden work” of churches of all denominations goes quietly on in the background and deserves acknowledgement.
